We are doing a migration from to and my colleague said that there is no need to worry about auto complete any longer.
We migrated from to a couple of years ago, and YES, you DO need to migrate the NK2 file out of the old , but only if it is important to your users to have that list. Once migrated, the first time fires up it will convert the NK2 file to the new way of storing things and you won't ever have to worry about it again. We told our users they could repopulate the recently used address list with FRESH data and they would be better off.
So, we backed up the NK2 files, just in case, but didn't actually migrate them unless someone just HAD to have an old email address off that list which they had forgotten to add to their address books. If you are already using Outlook or later and need to use an autocomplete file from a different profile, send an email from the new profile.
