If you are talking about the little strip between the wall and the water, you have to get there from the Central Forest just before you cross the water to the Village.
Check the screenshot under Locations in the walkthrough. Just finished the game and I like how the Simulation-RPG genre is taking up is it too bad to hope it'll replace the hidden object craze? Like the others I have played Wandering Willows in the past and was excited to find a game with similar mechanics. Though with the good comes the bad and once the excitement died down it got a little bit tedious to run around the island. I agree with the others that it could have had a better means to travel especially through wild boar territory!
So far I don't know what the purpose of the island's design is But game's are not realistic, or if they are somewhat are, they lean more on the aesthetic side of realistic. Am I making sense? I've had some expectations die within me as well. First, I thought that the first cave we encounter on the Central Beach would lead to the northwestern part of the island those who've gotten to Part 2 will know what I'm talking about. No such luck. You have to cross a river, run across two islands with boars or snakes before reaching safe haven.
The worst part of this was that I didn't know you could click the stars on the map to auto-pilot your character to the intended NPC's destination. I've finished the game so it's a moot point, but they could have made an interface tutorial or something Well, it is an RPG and I didn't mind the endless running and mindless tasks, which are not actually that mindless. Every event you encounter from start to finish has a part in the epilogue and it's always nice to collect, grow, transform or combine items into a new one.
It's the novelty of these kinds of games. It's simpler than Wandering Willows, and I'm only comparing since these two are the only games I know of with this 'genre'. Art's not bad and it's great as a point-and-click, though I wish they could have a keyboard option available. It's not that important though. The problem with this kind of mechanic, and I'm talking about all games that would like to imitate it, is that there will be a lot of farming.
Uh, let me rephrase, since you do have a garden and such Farming as in running around and hoarding goods. It's devilishly fun but that's when the map's design worked against itself. Apart from fruits and your garden, anything else you'd like to collect would be moving and would either try to kill you or run away from you. Very far.
Don't worry, these aren't the gripes of an unsuccessful hunter, I actually managed quite well, but the AI animals' movements range from hostile to retreat. You'll notice the difference when you 'drink' one specific green item There's nothing else to say about the game except for the ending, which is a delicious cliffhanger for me. I'm kind of tired of games that involve being stuck in an island so the end scene really hooked me up and I'll be waiting for the next game.
The raft is built, but I can't get it to go anywhere with or without Mike and Tom. How can I get it to move? Jambkle - It's been a while since I played the game, but try clicking on the raft since you want Tom to move to it. Guys I can't seem to find the toolbox no matter how much i search central beach i just can't find it. Hunni - It's in the lifeboat. If you need more help, there is a walkthrough above the comments. I seem to have a problem no one else has had. I need to take Nomato 5 each of potatos, turnips and fuki.
He gave me 20 seeds, from which I grew 3 each - potato, turnip, fuki, cabbage, 4 each - watermelon, pineapples. Where can I get the rest of the vegatables I need?
I received the seeds for planting, but Amy has no interest in planting them now. She wants me to bring her three fruits, including watermelons. But I haven't been able to find watermelons growing on any of the islands. I can't get into the caves yet to see if there's access to other islands through there because I have no torch. Amy's exclamation point is red, so I'm convinced I'm supposed to bring her ripe melons and not just seeds.
Can anyone help me figure out where I've missed the track? I finished this a long time ago. Now The Island - Castaway 2 is out, and I just finished it.
It's like a prequel to this game, so now I'm playing this one again just to see the characters that were introduced in the prequel and look at what they became. I know I am a bit ahead of things, but I need help with Island Castaway 2. A bit slower than the original, great just the same. If any one else has gotten there, have you found the 'Ashes Behind the Back' in Chapter 4? After bringing Keja the ingredients for the charm go to the north east of Dungu Lands. Look for a pig playing in a muddy pool, the barrel is behind this muddy pool.
That is where I thought it must be, but for me - I can dig holes, pick flowers, coconuts and shells - shoot boars, crabs and quail, have looked using all potions and still nothing.
Has anyone else encountered this? Nick wants ingredients for a new recipe. One is a vegetable sold in the tribe's village yaku? The problem: They're sold out. NOW what do I do? The seeds I can buy don't grow them, and I haven't found any growing wild. Has anyone gotten the gold trophy for walking the whole map? I sure thought I had done the whole map, but only got the silver trophy.
There is a small section outside the rock wall in the Central Forest. Go to the end of the path and turn right. I find it an awesome play.
Love it. However i can't reached the heart of the isle, in the tunnel were Nick felt Tom keeps running around. The last time you could reach the boat, but not now.
Please help me. Thx In this play i bought Tom keeps running in cirkels and doesn't react on my directions. Suddenly to night all was O. K and I finished the game. Holland is greeting you,. Jenny - Glad it all worked out. Thanks for the greeting, one of our team lives in the Netherlands. Thnx, Nice you have somebody from Holland in your team. I'm going to have a look at casteway 2, bye. Can someone help me! I'm stuck at the part where i have to find the little boy, and i got all the things for Mike to smoke the snake meat, but i cant find him i usally use the map to find the coloured stars of the other people on the map but i cant find mike anywhere, another thing, when im in the moutains it's either i cant remember what to bring to the man with the huge mask on.
Sharon - Since you have a number of questions, I'm going to suggest you check out the walkthrough above the comments to find your answers. If he isn't on the map, he might be in the cave in the Central Forest. I'm almost in the end of the game and can't find the last statue. Already run all available spots caves, islands, etc and nothing. I now that it's inside in one of the caves but I already run all of them 3x and nothing!!!
There is a detailed description with a screenshot in the walkthrough posted above the comments. Check Sacred Statues under General Information. I've read through the Walkthroughs, have gone right to left as suggested, but can find no exit. I've tried gaps in the rocks but to no avail. Any suggestions? Just did an all-nighter! I was having so much fun, I just couldn't walk away from the game. I WILL admit that the art work was a bit cartoonish, but the story was good enough to keep me from really paying attention to the art.
But, the graphics, the movement of the characters, was all quite good, and very natural. All things considered it was an excellent game and I had a ton of fun playing it. I DID have a few complaints Or, it might be more polite to say that there were a couple of things that I wanted to bring to the attention of the game's developers - and, no, none of them had anything to do with the voice dialog.
Aside from Stefi, that is, the other voices all seemed rather normal to me. You have no idea what KIND of seeds you have until they mature into veggies. Which brings me to my second complaint.
The programmers SHOULD HAVE put in some sort of warning, such as the image of a bottle, in a circle, with a line through it, like those "No Smoking" signs that you see everywhere, and, have the image appear on the screen and flash for a second or two, letting players know that it's time to "Top up" the potion.
Another thing that I could have done without, was Tom's insatiable appetite! The man was almost perpetually ravenous.
It happened so often, that I was on the verge of pulling out my hair! I'm sure I spent most of my time, preparing meals for the guy. Did anyone find themselves wondering WHY the developers had Tom build that "storage" shed? It was SUPPOSED" to be for storing the produce, fish, crabmeat, and pork that Tom either caught or gathered, but for some reason the storage shed seemed to be completely forgotten by the game's developers. After it was built, it simply It was never again mentioned. Go figure!
There were a number of things that had me scratching my head, such as when Mike gave Tom instructions for smoking the meat they caught. It was "The best way", he said, to preserve what they caught and prevent spoilage. Tom accepted the Mike's instructions, and said he'd get started on it right away. But, this too seemed to be forgotten, because it was never again mentioned.
I mean, the LEAST the developers could have done, was show a system of ropes, or vines, stretched between poles, with a smoky campfire built close to it. On the lines, there should have been fishes, pork, crabmeat, and snakemeat. There was, in fact, such a structure in the native village. It was located near the hut of the merchant. However, no mention of it was ever made. And, why was no one assigned the task of gathering water? Mike spoke of leaving behind "Water Bottles",while he went searching for the spring.
This is when Tom volunteered to get the water, because it was plain to see that Mike was not well. But, Mike insisted he was fine, he was just a little fatigued and "overheated".
He just needed to rest a few moments, and then he'd go and get the water. Tom gave in, but it wasn't long after this that Nicole sought Tom out to tell him that Mike was terribly ill. She thought it was "Food Poisoning", but Tom knew Mike would never risk eating or drinking something until it was proven safe. Tom felt that someone had deliberately poisoned Mike. This was the last time that gathering water was mentioned. Even though the story moved very from one "Quest" to the next, I still found myself wondering why the castaways never built shelters.
They needed some sort of protection from the elements. And, what an Outhouse? But, this too, was overlooked. All things considered, though, this was an excellent game. I haven't done an all-nighter in quite some time, because there just hasn't that many games that captured my interest as this one did.
As I watched the opening cut scene, I found myself thinking, "Oh, Jeeze! This looks like it's going to be lame! But, I ended up be pleasantly surprised. The game had interesting characters, a captivating story, and moved along quickly. It DID bog down a bit when Tom ran out of energy and had to be fed. And, I admit to becoming unusually vexed when Tom's "potion" repeatedly quit on him was he was surrounded by hissing vipers, or angry boars. Fortunately, I quickly learned to avoid being taken out of action by the pigs, but the snakes moved far too quickly, and came at you in such numbers that they were next to impossible to avoid.
I give the developers of this game five, HUGE gold stars, and two thumbs up for a job well done. And, now, I'm on my way to look for "The Island: Castaway 2", with high hope for another enjoyable game.

Upper center left - In the Mountains NE hidden among the rocks. Lower center left - Inner cave in Montains where found Phato. The help pages will pop up as a reminder when you start each new task involving a tool.
You will play as Tom, who washes up on the Eastern Beach and decides to have a look around. The caves on the Central Beach and in the Central Forest are more up and down. A game that doesn't want you to stop playing!!! I love it. It suppose "to be continued" after the 2nd one but so far I haven't seen The Island: Castaway 3. Rated 5 out of 5 by CH from Good Story! Overall a great game. Good for people that like the Sims, Animal Crossing, etc.
It's a fun, original, and absorbing adventure tale with gathering and crafting, exploration and discovery. Loads of characters and plot twists make this original title so much fun. I keep checking back hoping they will make a part 3!!
Rated 5 out of 5 by BrincatPaget from Got hocked Oh i just loved this game. I love that you don't have to stay reading all the time as the characters speak and tell you the story them selves. Its about 5 hrs long or a bit more than that i just played it in one go, really a time killer. Easy to move around and an easy game to follow. I have played 'the island: castaway 2' but its not as good as this. I must say iv only played the 1st hr of the 2 but the 1 starts off really good.
So 10 out of 10 for this one : Date published: The storyline is awsome and very fun game to play. Now it's time to buy the sequel. Rated 5 out of 5 by Hookedongamz from Hours of Fun! Hesitated even trying this game at first because this is not the normal type of game I play, but I'm glad I did and I purchased it and the second one even without trying it because I love this one so much.
There are 2 times in the game where you are given a task to find items and then you can't find the person to return it to. Just wait and they will eventually show up. This happens when Mike asks for the ingredients for smoked snake and when Nick wants the ingredients for fish stew. That is your decision. If you do, then you will be more likely to have it in your inventory when you need it. However, you will also be more likely to not have enough room in your inventory.
If you are going to try for the gold trophies and you don't pick up a lot of extra stuff, it will take you longer at the end.
Personally, I used a middle of the road method. I didn't pick up stuff as I was going between scenes or on a task for something else, but I did pick up a lot more than I needed at the time and frequently didn't have to go looking for stuff to complete a task.
Take a look at the gold trophies to see what you need for those. That might help you make up your mind. You can upgrade your inventory bag twice by buying it from Mbantuve, but you need pearls.
You can sell your extra inventory to Nomato or eat the stuff that is edible if you need more room. Go to Nomato.
On the map, he is the white star on the left in the village. You can pretty much buy anything except the ingredients for many of the tasks. You also can never buy prepared dishes or snake meat or tools, particularly the axe. Also note that some ingredients are very expensive, such as rosemary and tickseed. For the last tasks of treating village people, you can buy the ingredients if desired. I would occasionally use it for picking up a vegetable because I didn't want to take the time to grown.
The items you have in your inventory are on the left side. The prices for which you can sell them are listed along with the quantity.
The items you can buy are on the right with their prices. Also note there is a slider for scrolling down the screen. To start a transaction, click on the item you want to sell or buy, select how many you want, and click okay. You can also move the slider to select lots of items.
You will also see a running total of your transactions. You can keep doing this until you are done. Before you finalize all of your transactions, you will be given a choice to cancel everything. Also note that whenever you talk to Nomato, you will finish with the trading screen open. Just click on the confirm button to get out. Why not talk to whomever is the closest. This game is somewhat linear. You have to complete all of the tasks to move on and it doesn't really matter which order you go in.
The only advantage to doing something more quickly is that you might get another task sooner and can look for those items while doing something else. I would usually try as much possible to not be running back and forth across the island.
The walkthrough incorporates this strategy as much as possible. The boars will actively chase you if they see you. Luckily you can run as quickly as they can. If you are being chased, just run until they stop. There is one boar that will chase you almost all the way to the hut and to the banana tree sometimes. The boars won't chase you onto the bridge and don't go past their normal area. They will also stop chasing you if you are talking to somebody.
If you have clicked on the star on the map you can be pretty sure they won't get you. The snakes don't really chase you noticeably. However, they will cause damage. There is only one place where sometimes auto-running will take you into snakes. This is the edge of the swamp and happens if you are passing between the old huts area and the village.
If you are going to the camp, this won't happen. Using the protection potion will cause the animals to ignore you. Use this if you have to go through any areas with snakes the swamp and the mountains or if you need to kill boars and snakes or if you just have to pick something up in boar territory and they are nearby. Sometimes you can get away with picking up one thing and then running.
You will use your bow and arrow. It will take 3 hits to kill an animal. You can buy bow upgrades from Mbantuve but they are expensive. Save going for the gold trophy on this until you have fully upgraded your bow. When you want to hit the animal, you will see a target over the animal.
Just click on it and as long as the animal doesn't move, you should hit the animal. Then wait for it to stop moving around. The boars will actually take off running after they are hit, so just follow them at a little distance until they stop. You do not need to get super close to an animal to hit it as you will move into striking distance automatically. If you are doing a lot of hunting, use the protection potion. If you still have potion power left when you hit your goal and you still have arrows, go ahead and kill extra to sell or keep on hand for later.
You have to wait until you have a raft to cross the river. Just keep following the tasks as assigned and it will happen on the game's own time. John is one person who moves around a lot! The first time he moves, if you have not explored Central Beach completely, he will be under the clouds. But he is on the NW side of Central Beach. The other times he is missing, he is in a cave.
So if you can't find him, you need to figure out which cave to go in from the comments of other characters. In Part 6, the cave he is in is kind of tough. If you can't find him, then go to the find statues question and look at where to find Oshumare. If you are told to find Nick or talk to him and you can't see his star, then he is in a cave. If he asks you to bring him food and he's not around, then he's taken off for awhile and will return in his own time.
When Mike goes off to get water, you won't be able to find him, but don't worry he'll come back.
